3D, so what?
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Consumer Electronics Show on behalf of a tech news publication known as TechZulu. The talk of the show was 3D. 3D TVs, 3D video games, 3D advertisements.
Given the success of Avatar and its record-breaking two-billion-plus dollar take at the box office, this latest fad is understandable, but stupid.
At CES, I checked out a few of these 3D displays and was underwhelmed. They are neither crisp nor immersive. Why pay a premium for something that is just as enjoyable in 2D as it is in 3D?
Here’s a picture: you and your 10 friends want to watch the latest action film on your big screen, 3D television, but do you have 10 pairs of 3D glasses? No? Guess some are going to be the odd people out.
